1. Accepting these terms

By creating an account or using Bulletin Bored, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and to our Privacy Policy. They apply wherever you use Bulletin Bored — on bulletinbored.io and in our mobile app. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. If you're using Bulletin Bored on behalf of a business, you're agreeing for that business too, and you confirm you have the authority to do so.

2. Who can use Bulletin Bored

You must be at least 13 years old to use Bulletin Bored, and at least 18 to use the payment features — buying a plan or Promo Tokens, or listing tip handles and sending tips. The service is operated from the United States and is currently focused on US cities; if you use it from elsewhere, you're responsible for complying with your local laws.

3. Your account

• Give us accurate information and keep it up to date — the boards only work when people can trust what's pinned to them.
• Keep your password and sign-in methods to yourself. You're responsible for everything that happens under your account. Optional two-factor authentication is available in Settings → Security, and we recommend it.
• An account belongs to one person (or one business). Don't share accounts, and don't pretend to be someone — or some business — you're not.
• If you suspect someone else has accessed your account, tell us right away at support@bulletinbored.io.

4. Your content and our license

You own what you post — event notes, images, flyers, recaps, photos, community posts, and messages all remain yours. So you can share it with your community, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute that content as part of operating the service — for example, showing your note on city boards, in search and recommendations, and in the notification emails users have asked for. The license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already in transit (like a sent email) and the aggregate, non-identifying statistics described in the Privacy Policy.

Only post content you have the rights to. Don't upload photos, video, or music you don't own or have permission to use — no copyrighted footage or artwork, no stock media you haven't licensed, and no song under your video flyer that isn't yours to use. If your flyer or video uses someone else's artwork, music, or photos of identifiable people, that clearance is on you. We remove content that infringes someone's rights when we're notified, and repeat infringers lose their accounts.

5. Posting rules (acceptable use)

Bulletin Bored is a wall of paper worth reading. Keep it that way:

• Post real events with accurate details. Dates, venues, prices, and ticket links should be truthful.
• No hateful or violent content. Slurs and hate speech, content that sexualizes or endangers minors, depictions or threats of sexual violence, and targeted threats are never allowed anywhere on the service — including private events.
• Keep public boards clean. Profanity and sexually explicit language are blocked on public notes. Private events among adults get more latitude, but the never-allowed categories above still apply.
• No spam or manipulation. Don't flood boards with duplicates, post misleading promotions, or try to inflate views, RSVPs, or the "hot" badge with fake engagement.
• No scraping or abuse. Don't harvest data from the service, probe or overload our infrastructure, circumvent rate limits or content scanning, or link to malware or scams.
• No impersonation or harassment. Don't pose as another person, venue, or business, and don't use invites, chat, direct messages, community posts, or reviews to harass anyone. You can block another user at any time, and blocking cuts both ways — their messages and content stop reaching you.

These rules apply everywhere on the service — notes, event chat, direct messages, reviews, and the community feed. Note text is automatically scanned when you post, and our team can review anything that's reported or flagged.

6. Events, tickets, and payments

Bulletin Bored is a bulletin board, not an event organizer or ticket seller. Hosts are solely responsible for their events — that they happen as described, that they're safe and legal, and for any permits, refunds, or disputes. Ticket and RSVP links on notes go to third-party sites we don't control, and any payment handles a host lists (like Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle — for a private event's cost per person, or the tip jar in section 7) are peer-to-peer arrangements between you and the host — that money never passes through us. The only money we handle ourselves is for paid plans and Promo Tokens (sections 10 and 11). Attending an event you found here is your decision; use the same judgment you'd use with any flyer you see around town.

7. Tips (the tip jar)

The tip jar lets you leave a small tip for an event's host, or for someone on its lineup. Tips are voluntary gratuities — a thank-you, never payment for goods, services, admission, or anything else. Sending one buys nothing and promises nothing.

• We never touch the money. A recipient lists their own Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle in Settings → Tip jar, and tapping "Leave a tip" opens that app with the amount filled in. The payment happens there, between you and the recipient, under that service's own terms. Bulletin Bored isn't a party to it, doesn't process or hold it, and takes no fee.
• No refunds through us. Because we never handle the payment, we can't reverse one. Questions about a tip go to the recipient or to the payment app you used.
• Handles are the recipient's responsibility. Check the name shown before you send — a mistyped handle still routes to whoever owns it.
• Who can be tipped. The event's host and any confirmed lineup act who has added a handle. We show handles only on public events with the jar switched on, and only to people viewing that event.
• Acceptable use. The tip jar is for gratuities only — never for tickets, admission, deposits, or anything that violates these terms or the payment app's rules. Fraudulent hosts lose their tip jar.
• We can pause tipping — for the whole service or for any account — at any time, for example while we investigate suspected fraud.
• Taxes on tips you receive are your responsibility.

8. Private events and invites

Private events are invite-only. Hosts control their guest lists and can add or revoke invitations at any time — an invitation is a courtesy from the host, not a contract, and it creates no obligation for Bulletin Bored or the host. Invite links are personal; don't forward them to people the host didn't invite. What's shared inside a private event (guest list, chat, photos) is meant for that group — but the never-allowed content categories in section 5 still apply, and we may remove content that violates them.

9. Moderation, appeals, and termination

We can remove content, decline to publish a note, or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms — automatically at posting time, after human review, or in response to reports. Where reasonable we'll tell you what happened, and you can ask for a second look: removed notes and account-level actions can be appealed from within the app. We may also remove content we're legally required to remove. You can stop using Bulletin Bored and delete your account at any time in Settings → Security.

10. Plans and subscriptions

Bulletin Bored has a free plan and paid plans. The free plan (Neighbor) limits how many public events you can have live at once and which scheduling features you can use; the paid plans (Host and Promoter) lift those limits, add analytics and wider promotion reach, and include a monthly allowance of Promo Tokens. What each plan includes, its current limits, and its price are shown on the Plan & Billing page before you buy anything.

• Subscriptions renew automatically. Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly, in advance, and renew at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel any time: on the web from Settings → Plan & Billing → Manage subscription, and in the mobile app through your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Cancelling stops the next charge; your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for.
• Who charges you. Web purchases are processed by RevenueCat and Stripe; your card details go to them, not to us. Purchases made in the mobile app are billed by Apple or Google under their terms, and their policies govern refunds and cancellations for those purchases. Prices are shown before tax; sales tax is added at checkout where it applies.
• Refunds. Subscription charges and token packs are generally non-refundable, and we don't prorate partial periods. If something went wrong with a charge, email support@bulletinbored.io and we'll make it right. Nothing here limits refund rights you have under consumer law.
• Free trials. If a plan offers a trial, it converts to a paid subscription when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. A trial unlocks the plan's features but not its monthly Promo Tokens.
• Price changes. We may change plan prices. If we do, we'll tell you before the new price applies to your next renewal, and you can cancel before it does.
• Failed payments. If a renewal can't be collected, we'll retry and let you know. If it still can't be collected, your plan ends.
• When a paid plan ends — because you cancelled, a payment failed, or a complimentary plan expired — your account goes back to the free plan's limits. Public events beyond those limits are hidden from the boards, not deleted: series and recurring runs come down entirely, and single listings beyond the free allowance are hidden starting with the furthest-out dates. Everything stays in your account and comes back the moment you're on a plan that allows it. Private events are never affected.
• Complimentary plans. We may grant plan access at no charge — for example to early accounts for a grace period after paid plans launch. Complimentary access can end, and follows the same rules above when it does.
• Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription billed by Apple or Google — cancel it in your store settings first. Any remaining subscription time and unused Promo Tokens are forfeited when an account is deleted.

11. Promo Tokens

Promo Tokens are credits you spend to widen an event's promotion — for example, reaching boards beyond your local radius or dropping a promo pin in a second market. Tokens come two ways: a monthly allowance included with a paid plan, and one-time token packs you can buy.

• Plan tokens reset. The allowance included with a paid plan is refilled to the plan's amount at each renewal; unused plan tokens don't carry over. Purchased tokens don't expire while your account is open, and are spent after any plan tokens.
• Tokens aren't money. They have no cash value, can't be transferred to another account, redeemed for cash, or resold, and are non-refundable once spent. A token is spent when the promotion it paid for is published; if publishing fails, the charge is reversed.
• What a token buys may change. Prices in tokens for each kind of reach, and the price of packs, can change as we tune the feature. Changes apply to future purchases and promotions — never to tokens you already spent, and never by reducing a balance you paid for. Tokens granted at no charge (like the automatic top-ups while plans aren't for sale) may be adjusted or reset.

12. Early days

Bulletin Bored is new and still growing. Features may change or be discontinued as we build, and we may impose or change limits (post counts, radius, storage) as we tune the service. Right now every account has Host-level access at no charge; before paid plans switch on, we'll say so clearly in advance and give existing accounts a grace period before free-plan limits apply.

13. Disclaimers

Bulletin Bored is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We don't vet events or hosts and make no promises about the accuracy of anything users post.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bulletin Bored and the people who build it will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of your use of the service — including anything that happens at an event you found or posted here. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (if you haven't paid us anything, that's $100). Some jurisdictions don't allow certain of these limitations, so parts may not apply to you.

15. Indemnity

If someone brings a claim against us because of content you posted, an event you hosted, or your breach of these terms, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and damages that result.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Illinois, and both sides consent to that venue.

17. Changes to these terms

As the product evolves, so will these terms. When we make meaningful changes we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use Bulletin Bored after a change means you accept the updated terms.
